Domestic shorthair cat portraits

No pedigree required

Plenty of Australian cats aren’t a pedigree breed at all: they’re domestic shorthairs, the much-loved moggies of shelters, farms, neighbours’ litters and lucky backyards. That means every coat is different: tabby, black, ginger, tortoiseshell, calico, white, or a mix of everything. A Draw Paw portrait is made by AI from your own photo, so it’s your cat’s own colours and markings, whatever they are.

Styles for every moggy

Tabbies look great in Beach Day and Pencil Sketch, where the stripes become texture. Black cats shine in Minimalist and Road Trip, where a sleek silhouette stands out. Gingers, torties and calicos are colourful enough for In Bloom or Pop Art.

Photo tips for Moggy coats

• Black cats: use plenty of indirect daylight, and avoid flash, which turns the eyes into glowing discs.
• White and pale cats: open shade or an overcast day keeps the fur from turning into a white blob.
• Tabbies and torties: a sharp photo in soft light shows the stripes and patches clearly.
• Get down to their level, on the floor or on the couch, and wait for them to look at you.
• A slow blink often means they’re relaxed, which is a good moment for the photo.
